Stanozolol is a FDA approved synthetic anabolic steroid approved for human use derived from testosterone. Stanazolol is made available in tablet form due to it having a large oral bioavailability which is caused by it being able to withstand liver metabolism.

It is a popular steroid among female bodybuilders because it does not produce estrogen, its large anabolic effect and weak androgenic effects. However, virilisation and masculinization are common side effects if the steroid which is not preferred for most women but may be good for those wanting to enhance their masculine appearance.

Despite the side effects, it remains popular among bodybuilders for its ability to retain lean body mass without any water retention and weight gain. Stanozolol has been used clinically to treat anemia and hereditary angioedema in humans with great success which makes it a popular steroid among physicians.

In the veterinary line, this steroid is used to increase body mass, improve blood count and appetite in weak animals. It has also been used in horse racing to assist with the horses’ metabolic rate in preparation for competitions. Besides that, it is believed to have fat burning properties though there is not much evidence to support the claim. Despite its wide usage, it is banned from use in sports competitions by the IAAF and many other sporting bodies. The steroid is normally produced as 5mg tablets with a dosage of 10-25 mg/day with optimal results of 50mg/day.

The observed effects of the drug are temporary unless it is taken regularly. A rapid decline in body mass will occur upon the ceasing intake.

Some possible side effects of Stanozolol are insomnia, depression, severe jaundice, nausea and vomiting, gynocomastia, male pattern baldness and the deepening of voice.
